Hillel

Message from President Lambert

To my Hillel friends,

I was personally saddened and angered by the recent posting of anti-Semitic and racist symbols on a residence hall room message board.  This hurtful action is in opposition to our cherished sense of community and to the spirit of welcome and respect at Elon University.

Two of the highlights of my time at Elon have been the openings of the Sklut Hillel Center and Numen-Lumen Pavilion to house the Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life last spring.  Both stand in testimony to our goal of hosting a vibrant multi-faith community at Elon.  The growth of Hillel, Jewish life programs, and Jewish Studies at Elon have been remarkable and wonderful.  I urge you not to lose heart and to know that I stand with you in the development of a strong Jewish community at Elon.

With every good wish for peace and understanding,

Leo M. Lambert
