On behalf of the Multicultural Center staff, we would like to welcome you to the Multicultural Elon Experience.  We are glad that you have chosen our particular site to learn more about the diversity initiatives, programs, and services at Elon University.  Please feel free to contact the staff or any student leader to receive adequate information regarding the innovative and imaginative programs being designed to strengthen the perspectives of multiculturalism.    

The Multicultural Center Today

The Multicultural Center is proud of its heritage and the many students, faculty, and staff who have contributed to the overall growth and development of the department.  Today, the Multicultural Center    aspires to be the leading premiere archetype of multicultural education and student development (learn more).  Within these two frameworks, you will discover five core competencies that serve as the thrust of our mission and vision: Life Skills, Leadership, Global Perspective, Identity Development, Personal and Civic Responsibility (learn more).

The work of the Multicultural Center will involve three concentrated areas to enrich the multicultural experience at Elon University: 1) multicultural education; 2) student development; and 3) academic success and scholarships.  Our intent is to create an environment in which all students can engage in active learning strategies to increase their competencies in the area of multiculturalism.  In addition, students will have the opportunity to explore their own biases, misconceptions, stereotypes, and preconceived notions.  To this end, we aim to transform the lives of students, faculty, and staff with intentional diversity initiatives.
