These responsibilities include coordinating year-long initiatives such as the SMART Mentoring Program, as well as one-time events like the Intersect Conference. As team leaders, Student Coordinators will be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of these events on behalf of the CREDE. The available teams to lead are:
SMART Mentoring Program
SMART is designed to support all first-year and transfer students, particularly those from historically marginalized groups, in their transition to Elon, fostering social engagement, academic success, and a strong sense of belonging.
Our student coordinators, alongside mentors and staff, carefully plan events centered around academic success, identity exploration, and cultural awareness to ensure that all mentees feel a sense of belonging and are equipped for success at Elon—academically, socially, and professionally.
DEEP
DEEP (Diversity Emerging Education Program) is CREDE’s signature social justice initiative, led by a team of student educators dedicated to fostering meaningful conversations about systemic inequities, social justice, and social change. Through peer-to-peer education, DEEP creates spaces for learning, reflection, and action, with a strong emphasis on racial equity. By examining identity, power, and their connection to systemic inequities, the program raises awareness and equips the Elon community with the tools to advocate for a more just and inclusive society.
Student Coordinators play a key role in DEEP by planning, organizing, promoting, executing, and assessing activities, events, and initiatives related to the program. They collaborate with CREDE staff to facilitate discussions, develop educational materials, and engage the campus community in critical conversations about diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Black Student Success Initiatives
CREDE is committed to supporting all students, with a particular focus on fostering an understanding of Black identity development as a pathway to success. Through best practices, the center engages students with resources, mentorship, and programs that promote academic achievement and personal growth.
Student Coordinators play a key role in this mission by planning, organizing, marketing, executing, and evaluating activities and events that celebrate and support Black identity and success. It promotes equitable access to resources and learning experiences that celebrate the richness of Latinx/Hispanic heritage.
Student Coordinators play a vital role in supporting El Centro’s mission. They assist the Assistant Director in daily operations and serve on one of three committees that focus on key areas of the center’s work. Their responsibilities include planning and implementing cultural and educational programs, providing tutoring for students in traditional Spanish classes, and supporting Spanish conversation classes at all levels. Additionally, they help manage El Centro’s social media accounts to enhance outreach and engagement.

Asian & Pacific Islander and Native American initiatives at Elon provide opportunities for all students to learn about and engage with the histories, cultures, and contemporary issues of Asian, Pacific Islander, Native American, Alaskan Native, and Multiracial communities. Through educational programs, events, and discussions, these initiatives promote cultural awareness, cross-cultural understanding, and advocacy while fostering an inclusive and supportive campus environment.
Student Coordinators support these initiatives by planning, organizing, marketing, executing, and evaluating activities and events that are open to the entire campus community.
