The mission of the Multicultural Center
is to provide programs and events that support the
personal development and academic achievement of students at
Elon University. Our primary function is to create a
community in which each member feels respected and valued as
a unique individual and as a member of the Elon
community.

trip to Greensboro to the Guilford Green

Burlington YMCA for a day of fun at the pool.

By Me" t-shirts and attend this College Coffee
to show your support of our lesbian, gay, bisexual, and
transgender students, faculty, and staff.
Coming Out All Over (Holt Chapel @ 7
p.m.): This event is sponsored by
Spectrum and celebrates the lives and coming out
stories of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender
students, faculty, and staff. Come out and hear
their stories!

Out and About - LGBT Panel Discussion

faculty and staff who will speak about lesbian, gay,
bisexual, and transgender topics in an open forum for
you to ask questions!

October is GLBT History Month: GLBT
History Month begins on October 1. On each day, a video and
biography of a GLBT Icon will be displayed below.
National Coming Out Day on October 11th:
This is a day to celebrate and remember the
lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people.

Transgender Day of Remembrance on November
20th: The Transgender Day of Remembrance was
set aside to memorialize those who were killed due to
anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. The event is held in
November to honor Rita Hester, whose murder in 1998 kicked
off the "Remembering
Our Dead" web project and a San Francisco
candlelight vigil in 1999. Since then, the event has grown
to encompass memorials in dozens of cities across the
