One-time service opportunities

Individual Group Organization
Allied Churches: Work in soup kitchen and night shelter in Burlington.
Boys and Girls Club: Tutor and play games with children in an after-school program.
SHARE: Play with and take care of animals in shelters.
  Kopper Top: Help with recreational and therapeutic horseback riding lessons.
  Family Abuse Services: Assist in nursery for families in crisis.
  Service Trips: Travel during school breaks and/or weekends to do service in other communities. Locations include: Dominican Republic, South Carolina, West Virginia, Washington, D.C.
Safe Rides: Help prevent drinking and driving by providing rides on the weekend to other Elon students.
Habitat for Humanity: Build affordable housing with families in need of a decent place to live.
A Home of Their Own: Spend the night outside as part of a program to educate about homelessness.
  Blood Drives
Cystic Fibrosis Walk: Walk to raise awareness and money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Festival of the Oaks: Volunteer to make the town's festival run smoothly.
Human Race Walk: Walk to raise money for local non-profit organizations.
Hunger Awareness Week: Activities provide support for the hungry and raise awareness.
National Make-a-Difference Day: Volunteer on this nationally recognized day to show the impact and importance of community service.
Special Olympics: Sponsor athletes or supervise activity stations.
Take Back the Night: Attend a march and program to educate our community about sexual assault.
  Trick-or-Canning: Collect canned goods on Halloween to donate to food banks.
White Ribbon Campaign: Men show their support of stopping violence against women.

Ongoing service opportunities

Individual Group Organization
  EV! Coaches: Coach and assist youth soccer and basketball teams.
  Elon Cares: Provide education to individuals regarding HIV/AIDS.
  One-to-One: Provide tutoring and befriend elementary school children.
Toys for Tears: Sponsor toy drives for children who have been affected by disaster.
Adopt-a-Grandparent: Visit with elderly members of the community at the senior center and residential facilities.
  Crossroads: Educate about sexual assault and give support to victims of assault (training required).
  Mis Amigos: Tutor Spanish-speaking children in English.
Boys and Girls Club: Tutor and play games with children in an after-school program.
SHARE: Play with and take care of animals in shelters.
  Kopper Top: Assist with therapeutic horseback riding lessons and other farm animals.
  Family Abuse Services: Assist in nursery for families in crisis.
  Junior Achievement: Teach basic business skills to young people.
Habitat for Humanity: Build affordable housing with families in need of a decent place to live.
  Alpha Phi Omega: Co-ed service fraternity.
  Epsilon Sigma Alpha: Co-ed service sorority.
  Circle K: Promote leadership and service in the community.
  Sierra Club: Educate and advocate solutions to environmental issues.
