Sierra Club ranks Elon among 'cool schools'

The university has been named repeatedly to the list by the environmental organization, which looks at sustainability practices, carbon footprints and recycling efforts. 

Elon University has been featured in the Sierra Club’s list of “cool schools” — those colleges and universities that implement sustainability practices and work to control their footprint on the environment. 

The annual rankings, which appear in the organization’s “Sierra” magazine, look at how schools adhere to the Sierra Club’s environmental priorities in areas such as waste, water, energy, investments, innovation and academics. Elon was among more than 200 schools included in this year’s list.
