Amy Johnson, associate professor of history and director of the Elon Core Curriculum, presented a paper entitled "Sustainable Identities: Indigenous Incorporation among the Maroons of Jamaica." 

Amy Johnson, associate professor of history and director of the Elon Core Curriculum, presented a paper entitled “Sustainable Identities: Indigenous Incorporation among the Maroons of Jamaica” at the 10th Annual International Maroon Conference in Charles Town, Jamaica.

The paper, which looks at the development of a sustainable, outward-facing Maroon identity in the 21st century, is part of an ongoing research project related to the impact of the Maroon Treaties of 1739 on Jamaican Maroon communities.
