Elon BrainCARE Symposium to highlight women in concussion science and management

The Elon BrainCARE Research Institute will host its sixth annual symposium on Thursday, March 7.

 

Elon will host the 6th annual BrainCARE Symposium on Thursday, March 7, with this year's gathering to highlight the role of women in concussion science and research. 

Sponsored by the Elon BrainCARE Research Institute, the annual symposium brings together student and faculty researchers who focus on mental health and concussions in student-athletes. In honor of International Women’s Day, this symposium is dedicated to featuring top women scholars and practitioners doing the science and management of sport concussions and related issues in this important field.

The event will run from 12:30 to 6 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Please see www.elon.edu/braincare for most up-to-date information concerning this symposium.

Lauren Brown '17, BrainCARE, Exercise Science and Women’s Basketball alumna. Completing her master's degree at the University of Georgia. Brown has been accepted to the Medical College of Georgia for Fall 2019 and has served Elon Youth Trustee.

Kelsey Evans '13, a BrainCARE, exercise Science and women’s basketball alumna. She completed a master's degree in exercise science at Georgia Southern and is a third-year medical student at Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
