Elon Music Ambassadors complete successful performance tour

Elon Music Ambassadors perform their fall program, "American Road Trip," for high school audiences in Maryland and New Jersey

The Elon Music Ambassadors, under the direction of music faculty Virginia Novine Whittaker, recently returned from a five-day performance tour of Maryland and New Jersey.

The elite ensemble consists of select music majors who performed their newest program, “American Road Trip,” for high school audiences. The program was created by the ensemble members who arranged all of the music with guidance from their director to spotlight each of the highly talented members of the group.

Elon Music Ambassadors showcase the Elon music department and Elon University to high school audiences. The visit to New Jersey and Maryland is the seventh performance tour that EMA has completed since its inception in fall 2011. Over the past two years, EMA has visited 37 different high schools in six states, performing for both public and private high school students and faculty.

The most recent tour included five performances followed by question-and-answer forums that inspired collegebound students to include Elon among their top choices.

The Elon Music Ambassadors who performed on tour include Brandon Mitchell (percussion), Brian Magna (saxophone/woodwinds), Wesley Rose (piano, mandolin), Michelle Warshany (flute), Jesse Scarborough (sound production and banjo), Gabriel Estes (guitar and vocals), Jessica Zelenack (vocals), Caitlyn Balkcum (vocals), Marshall Rogalski (bass and vocals) and Justin Pierce (trombone).
