Schedule
Beyond 12 sessions start. Students will attend two monthly sessions during the academic year at their middle school campus.
- Broadview Middle School will meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month from 2:15 PM to 3:15 PM.
- Graham Middle School will meet on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
Students will engage in written reflections on their accomplishments and milestones, set up College Foundation of North Carolina accounts to support their high school journey, and complete assessments in study skills, learning styles, and career development.
Students will continue working on their written reflections and will participate in skits focused on conflict resolution and the impact of social media.
Students will practice dining etiquette by correctly setting the table with essential items. Following this, they will demonstrate proper table manners during a meal at our first speaker series. Three speakers, all first-generation college graduates, will share their journeys from Title I schools to higher education and their professional careers. Two of the speakers attended Broadview Middle School and Graham High School.
2024 Speaker Series and Etiquette Dinner Guest Speakers: Tyronna Hooker, M.Ed., Brandon Williamson, and Ray Griffis Jr.
Students will focus on goal-setting and time management skills to support their personal and academic growth.
Students will develop financial literacy and conduct college research. Each student will select a North Carolina college, both public and private, to research. The findings will be used to create project boards, which will be presented during the summer 2-day program.
Students and their counselors will plan a week of college awareness events for the entire school. Beyond 12 students will lead in planning and presenting school-wide activities during the week. Family involvement is not required; however, each school will offer workshops for families during college week.
Summer Activity – Community Programs
In partnership with community organizations, Beyond 12 will host events for parents at Broadview Middle and Graham Middle School. The goal is to foster collaboration among schools, community organizations, and parents to enhance student learning, improve academic outcomes, and support overall student well-being.
Each organization will have the opportunity to present programs available for middle school students during the summer and school year. Parents will be able to speak directly with program representatives and select programs that best suit their children’s needs.
Please join us at one of the events and enjoy a light meal:
Graham Middle School: Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
Broadview Middle School: Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm

Students will spend two full days on Elon University’s campus, experiencing a residential program that includes professional panels, expert presentations, and campus tours.
On day one, students will assemble a comprehensive display of the college they researched during the program sessions. The display will include key information such as the college’s name, degree of interest, major options, tuition (per credit), scholarships, enrollment process, housing costs, book expenses, dorm life, dining options, student organizations, recreation and wellness opportunities, athletics, technology, library resources, online programs, and study abroad options. Each student will deliver a 3–4-minute presentation of their college board to their peers and adult volunteers.
On the second day, students will present an overview of the Beyond 12 college awareness program to parents and guests. They will host a college fair, sharing their research findings with parents, teachers, and attendees. A “scavenger hunt” will be organized for attendees to explore the various colleges and the students’ career options.
