Italian Opportunities at Elon

Italian Club

The Italian Club organizes a variety of activities, both social and cultural for its members and for the greater Elon community. For more information or to become a member of the Italian Club, contact Dr. Mena Marino at mmarino3@elon.edu.

CIAO Conversation Hour, Game Nights, and More

On a weekly basis there are conversation hours, game nights, and a variety of presentations (culinary, cultural) available for students to participate in. See the Cultural Event Calendar for details.

The World Languages Floor

The World Languages Floor, housed on the 4th floor of Global D Zambezi House, is a community for students who are eager to explore languages other than English, to speak them as much as possible, and to share their passion for multilingual experiences with other students and faculty mentors.  The World Languages Floor is open to all students who wish to engage with world languages currently taught at Elon (Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Latin, and Spanish).

Typically, there are larger communities of students studying French, Spanish and Italian, but we are excited to build clusters of students learning all of the languages that Elon offers.

For more information on the World Languages Floor, please contact Prof. Olivia Choplin at: ochoplin@elon.edu or (336) 278-5815.

Study Abroad

No world language minor would be complete without a summer, winter term, or semester abroad in Italy. Students can complete coursework in Florence at the Accademia Europea di Firenze during the fall and spring semesters. In Sorrento at the Sant’Anna Institute, students can complete coursework and internships in a variety fields, in English and/or Italian. Courses taking place in whole or in part in Italy run regularly each winter term. For more information on Study Abroad in Italy, please visit their website.

Business Dual Degree Program

The Business Dual Degree Program is a unique four-year program designed for students who want a truly global education and have strong interests in living, working and studying business for two years at Elon and at one of our four partner schools. The BDD program offers you the opportunity to study international business in two cultures, giving you a competitive edge in the global marketplace. Elon students participating in the BDD spend their first two years on Elon’s campus and their last two years in Germany, France, Italy or Spain.
