To access the School of Communications’ RED Scarlet-W cameras, students have to meet a series of requirements. Students must have previously (or currently) taken COM356 Cinema & Television Aesthetics or COM456 Producing for the Screen. The students must then undergo a training session to learn how to properly manage and operate the camera on set and in post-production. See the workshop schedule here.
To reserve the camera, the student needs to submit a proposal containing the following materials: a treatment with description of when and where the shoot is taking place, a script, a shooting schedule, and a shot list or storyboard. This proposal must be handed in two weeks before the scheduled shoot date.
