To access the School of Communications’ RED Scarlet-W cameras, students have to meet a series of requirements. Students must have previously (or currently) taken COM356 Cinema & Television Aesthetics or COM456 Producing for the Screen. The students must then undergo a training session to learn how to properly manage and operate the camera on set and in post-production. See the workshop schedule here.

To reserve the camera, the student needs to submit a proposal containing the following materials: a treatment with description of when and where the shoot is taking place, a script, a shooting schedule, and a shot list or storyboard. This proposal must be handed in two weeks before the scheduled shoot date.

Submit a reservation with the form below once you have completed the following:

 

  • Currently taking or previously completed COM356 or COM456
  • Completed training session and watched the following tutorial videos:
  • Written proposal, which includes:
    • Treatment
    • Script
    • Shooting Schedule
    • Shot List/Storyboard
