Available Advanced Stabilization

Steadicam

The Steadicam is the industry standard for gimbals, often used for smooth tracking shots that require more mobility than a dolly.

The School of Communications’ Steadicam is available to students who are enrolled in or have completed an Advanced Level course. Students can reserve the Steadicam through the Gear Room after participating in a training workshop. See the workshop schedule here.

Easyrig

The Easyrig is a stabilizer in the School of Communications’ arsenal. Consisting of a vest with an attached overhead arm, the rig transfers the weight of larger cameras from the user’s back/shoulders to their hips, resulting in smoother handheld shots and less back pain. The Easyrig is only available to check out with the RED Scarlet-W camera.

DJI Ronin-S

The DJI Ronin-S is a superior 3-axis stabilization system for integrating DSLR and mirrorless cameras into professional-grade cinematography. The single-handed form factor of the Ronin-S lends itself to lighter camera payloads, up to eight pounds.

The School of Communications has several Ronin-S gimbals available to students who are enrolled in or have completed an Advanced Level course. Students can reserve a Ronin-S through the Gear Room after participating in a training workshop. See the workshop schedule here.

DJI RS 3 Pro

Expanding on the features of the Ronin series, DJI RS 3 Pro is an advanced, comprehensive camera expansion platform for professional-quality productions. The extended carbon fiber axis arms and 10-pound payload capacity provide more balancing space and support for professional cinema cameras.

The School of Communications has several RS 3 Pro gimbals and accessory kits available to students who are enrolled in or have completed an Advanced Level course. Students can reserve the RS 3 Pro through the Gear Room after participating in a training workshop. See the workshop schedule here.
