Bring your challenges to Elon

Elon’s School of Engineering and Computing opened in fall 2026 with a clear purpose: to prepare engineers and computer scientists who can put their knowledge into practice. That commitment creates opportunities for organizations across our community, region and beyond to partner with students and faculty on challenges that call for research, design and technical expertise.

A school built for partnership

Partnering with the school connects you with students and faculty who combine technical expertise, hands-on problem-solving and perspectives from across the arts and sciences. As the school grows, partners and supporters can strengthen its programs, create opportunities for students and help shape its future.

No. 1 for undergraduate teaching

U.S. News & World Report ranks Elon No. 1 in the nation for excellence in undergraduate teaching for six consecutive years.

For partners, that recognition has practical value. Elon students work closely with faculty who teach, mentor and hold them to high standards. They bring that preparation to internships, research collaborations and projects with organizations like yours.

No. 8 for innovation

Elon ranks No. 8 among the nation’s “Most Innovative Schools.” The school supports that spirit of experimentation with specialized spaces for design, prototyping, immersive technology and scientific research. The Innovation Quad houses facilities covering fabrication, digital, electromechanical and life sciences. That infrastructure means student and faculty teams can prototype, test and iterate on real problems, including ones brought by partners like you.

Students prepared to contribute

Elon is also nationally recognized for experiences that put learning into practice. We are the only school in the top 15 across all eight categories included in U.S. News’ “Programs that Enhance Student Experience” rankings.

Those experiences prepare students to contribute to a team, respond to feedback and work toward a deadline when they join your organization.

Education to meet industry standards

Degree programs spanning infrastructure and physical systems, software and data, and cybersecurity give students the technical skills and applied experience employers seek, alongside an arts and sciences foundation that strengthens communication and problem solving. Our B.S. in Engineering is accredited. Civil and Mechanical Engineering are not yet accredited. Accreditation recognizes program quality and supports preparation for careers, professional licensure and further study.

Partner with us

Some of the school’s most meaningful student work begins with a challenge shared by an organization. Tell us what your organization is working through and how you would like to be involved. Together, we can identify a partnership that supports your goals and gives students valuable experience.

Sponsor a senior design project

Through SPEED, Senior Projects in Elon Engineering Design, a team of engineering seniors spends a full academic year working on a technical challenge identified by your organization. Guided by faculty mentors, students use professional project management practices and collaborate directly with your technical staff as they define the problem, develop and test ideas and deliver a prototype or solution.

Partners have included BNNano, Inc., Wastequip LLC, the City of Graham Recreation and Parks Department, Alley, Williams, Carmen and King Inc. and the Piedmont Triad Regional Council.

Community connections

Partnerships that serve the community

Our partnerships also address needs close to home. Students in Elon’s Engineering Design for Service course worked with the physical therapy department and the H.O.P.E. Clinic to develop affordable knee braces for a client with a spinal cord injury. The braces helped him walk independently with a walker for more than 120 feet, demonstrating what engineering and health care can accomplish together.

Host an Intern

Build your talent pipeline through hands-on experience

An internship gives students firsthand experience in a role while giving your organization time to evaluate their skills and potential. Elon prepares students not only to secure an internship, but also to contribute once it begins. They learn to ask thoughtful questions, listen carefully, respond to feedback and manage workplace expectations so they can become productive members of your team.

Support the school

Partnership is one way to support the school. Philanthropy offers another. At this early point in the school’s growth, your gift can expand opportunities for students and faculty and help shape its future.

Financial gifts can equip a design or prototyping lab, establish an industry-sponsored capstone, fund scholarships and fellowships, or seed a cybersecurity or artificial intelligence initiative.

Support can also be hands-on: serving as a guest speaker or visiting scholar, opening your facilities or equipment to student work, or bringing a technical challenge to a class.

As student support grows, so do the outcomes, and so does the innovation your organization stands to gain from working with the people the school produces.
