Clinical Education Information
The clinical faculty for the Elon DPT Program includes Site Coordinators of Clinical Education (SCCEs) and Clinical Instructors (CIs). These educators, all of which are employees of our clinical site partners, ensure student supervision and a comprehensive clinical experience in partnership and communication with the Director of Clinical Education. The SCCE manages and coordinates the clinical experiences of the physical therapy student on behalf of the clinical site. The clinical instructor is responsible for the direct instruction, guidance, and assessment of the PT student during their placement.
Continuing Education Opportunities
Many states, including North Carolina, grant CEU credits for clinicians who act as clinical instructors for DPT students. The Elon Clinical Education Program provides a certificate for clinical hours spent as a CI upon the completion of each clinical practicum, which may be used to provide evidence needed to meet the continuing education guidelines for license renewal.
The Elon PT program hosts complimentary annual continuing education opportunities in December, which local clinical partners are invited to attend.
Elon is also a proud member of the Carolina Clinical Education Consortium (CCEC) and participates in biannual meetings and conferences.
