Under the Weather Meal Vouchers
Elon Dining, Campus Safety and Police, and the Office of the Dean of Students have partnered to offer the “Under the Weather” meal voucher program. This program supports students who are unable to visit the dining halls due to illness or temporary mobility challenges. It allows a friend to present a voucher on the student’s behalf and pick up a takeout meal for them.
Students needing to access the program can contact the Office of the Dean of Students at 336-278-7200 during business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). For assistance in the evening or on weekends, students may call Campus Safety at 336-278-5555 to obtain vouchers.
Important Information About the Program
- An authorized representative may pick up a maximum of nine (9) meal vouchers on behalf of a student—covering up to three meals per day for three days. If a student requires meal support beyond three days, they should contact the Office of the Dean of Students to request additional vouchers. All vouchers will expire five (5) days after the date of issuance.
- “Under the Weather” vouchers may be redeemed for meals at the following residential dining locations during their regular hours of operation; Lakeside Dining Hall, McEwen Dining Hall (first floor), and Clohan Hall (second floor). Current dining hours are available on the Elon Dining website.
- Only one (1) voucher may be used per meal period (breakfast, lunch, or dinner), with a maximum of three (3) vouchers allowed per day. Vouchers are assigned to the student who is temporarily unable to access the dining hall. A designated friend or representative may use a valid voucher to pick up a meal on the student’s behalf.
- The designated individual should present the voucher and ask to speak with the Manager on Duty at the dining location. The manager will help ensure the student’s meal is properly prepared and that all necessary items are included. A compostable takeout box and any additional needed supplies will be provided to the person picking up the food.
- Students are encouraged to review dining options in advance on the Elon Dining website and communicate any food allergies, dietary needs, or preferred menu items to the person picking up their meal.
- Harvest Table Culinary Group/Elon Dining and Elon University are not responsible for the food that is taken from the dining hall meeting allergen/sensitivities needs.
- Students with a meal plan may participate in the program at no additional cost. One meal “swipe” will be deducted for each voucher used, including for those on a block plan.
- Students without a meal plan are also eligible to participate. For each voucher used, a $9.00 charge will be applied to the student’s Elon account.
- All students participating in the program are expected to adhere to the Elon Honor Code.
- Vouchers must be used within five (5) days of issuance. Any unused vouchers should be securely discarded.
