Authorized User Information
If someone will be paying tuition on your behalf, you must add them as an authorized user.
If you’d like someone else—such as a parent or guardian—to make payments on your behalf, you can add them as an authorized user in e-Bill. Once added, they’ll receive an email with instructions to access their account. You can find step-by-step guidance on how to add an authorized user below.
Establishing someone as an Authorized User will allow them to:
- Access your student account billing.
- Receive email notifications about charges and account changes.
- Access financial aid details.
- Pay your bill on your behalf.
- Enroll in a payment plan.
- Talk with someone from Student Financial Services regarding your account.
Students, follow these steps to set up or manage an Authorized User
- Log in to e-Bill.
- Navigate to the “Quick Links” to “Set up Authorized Users” or “Manage Authorized Users.”
- The authorized user will receive an email explaining how to log in to the system to verify their authorized user account. Make sure the email address you enter is correct, or your authorized user won’t receive important email messages from our office.
- Students can cancel access to an Authorized User at any time.
Family members, you may also follow these steps to request to be an Authorized User
- Log in to e-Bill.
- Choose “Create New Account.”
- Choose “No” when asked if you are a current or former student.
- Choose “Create Your Authorized User Account” (name, email, password).
- A verification email will be sent to the email address provided to activate the account.
- Next, the authorized user is required to verify the student’s university ID and date of birth.
- Student Financial Services sends an email to the students’ “@elon.edu” email address indicating the authorized user has requested access to the student’s account in e-Bill.
- Once approved, the authorized user will receive an email notification that the student has approved their access, and they have been established as an authorized user on the account.
- If the student does not approve, the authorized user account will remain in pending status.
Resetting a Password for an Authorized User
Only the authorized user can reset their password. Neither the student nor Student Financial Services can do this for them. If the user is unable to reset the password, it might be necessary for the student to remove the existing authorized user account and establish a new one.
