Law Students
Welcome Elon Law Students!
Your physical and emotional health and well-being are important to us! Below are main campus, Alamance County, and Guilford County area resources for health and counseling services. Please take a few minutes to become familiar with the resources available to you as an Elon Law student. If you have any questions or need help securing medical or psychological resources, please do not hesitate to contact our staff. Health Services can be reached at (336) 278-7230 and Counseling Services can be reached at (336) 278-7280.
Main Campus Resources
Elon University offers a wide variety of health and counseling services to our law students, faculty, and staff throughout the school year in our newly renovated facility on South campus. All law students, faculty, and staff are eligible to receive services at the R.N. Ellington Center for Health and Wellness.
A variety of medical expertise is offered by the staff of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, certified medical assistants and nurses to bring quality, efficient service and care to the university community. All counselors in the center are fully licensed by the State of North Carolina and offer brief, solution-oriented therapies.
Health Services
The R.N. Center for Health and Wellness offers medical services to the students, faculty, and staff of Elon University through Student Health Services. Providers are available during hours of operation to evaluate, treat and assist students, faculty and staff with their medical needs.
Students are seen at Student Health Services by appointment and in person only (no walk-ins). This allows staff to better serve students and reduce wait times. Students can schedule an appointment via the MyChart Online Scheduling widget. Students may also schedule an appointment by calling Student Health Services at (336) 278-7230 during operational hours.
Student Health Services staff will file student insurance and any remaining co-payments or deductible for the office visit portion will be paid by the University. Students may be responsible for all other costs associated with their visit after insurance has been filed, including but not limited to:
· Injections and Immunizations (including allergy injections)
· Prescriptions
· Lab Tests (In-house and those sent to LabCorp for processing)
· Medical Supplies (crutches, etc.)
· Medical procedures (sutures, IUD removal, IV’s, etc.)
· Physical Examinations
For more information, visit the Health Services website.
Counseling Services
During your years at Elon you may want help and guidance in dealing with emotions, gaining self-confidence or finding your own set of values. Counselors work from a solution-focused, short-term orientation emphasizing client strengths.
Counseling Services is located in the R.N. Ellington Center for Health and Wellness on south campus. Office hours are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday.
Please be sure to visit our Confidentiality page for information about e-mail.
Counseling Services attempts to see clients in a timely fashion. Every effort will be made to work with your class or work schedule. Because demand for our services is high, try to schedule an appointment as early as possible if you have concerns by calling the main number at (336) 278-7280. Messages may be left on confidential voice mail for the counselors or the program assistant.
From time to time the center is quite busy. You may find that it takes a few days to get an appointment. We urge you, therefore, not to wait to call until you feel you are in a crisis. Try to schedule an appointment as soon as you begin to develop concerns. If you are experiencing considerable distress at the time of your call, please make this known to the staff immediately.
If your concerns are of a critical nature during regular business hours, you may come to the Counseling Center between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. and we will arrange for you to speak with someone as soon as possible.
After normal business hours, we encourage you to contact Campus Safety and Police at (336) 278-5555. The counselor on call will be paged and will contact you. If you feel suicidal and/or are concerned that you may be in danger of hurting yourself or another, you may go directly to the emergency room of your local hospital.
For more information, visit the Counseling Services website.
Please note that student health and counseling records are confidential and can only be released with the signed permission of the student.
After Hours and Emergency Care (Burlington/Alamance County Area)
Students experiencing emergency medical situations should contact 911 or go to the nearest hospital.
For non-emergency conditions that may arise when Student Health Services is closed, please see the following resources below. In times of high demand accessing in-person care at urgent care centers or the hospital emergency department may be a challenge and may result in wait times of several hours. We recommend students consult with TimelyCare before going to an Urgent Care or hospital emergency department for non-emergency illnesses.
Please note that students are responsible for any financial costs associated with utilizing these resources:
TimelyCare
Elon has partnered with TimelyCare to offer a telehealth program for students that provides access to free, 24/7/365 medical and mental virtual health care from anywhere in the United States, including Summer, breaks and holidays. These services are offered FREE to Elon students and do not require any additional insurance filing. More information about accessing TimelyCare may be found here.
