Participate in Elon’s literary nonfiction contest

–Frederick Hartmann Literary Nonfiction Prize–

We’re having a literary nonfiction contest this year!  Normally we have fiction and poetry contests, but this year we’re adding a nonfiction prize.  Here’s the information.

Prizes will be $250, $150 and $100 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd (if there are no ties…) place.

Please drop off your typed essay with your name, Social Security number and email address at Whitley 203 or put it in campus mail (Boyle CB 2252)

by Friday, March 12.

Winners will be announced by our visiting writer (and judge)–Jo Ann Beard–at her reading on Wednesday, March 17, at 7:30 p.m. in Yeager.

Literary nonfiction is in the tradition of essayists like Thoreau, Emerson, Dillard, Orwell and others. It’s not just a paper from a course.
