Alan Taylor Communications is a mid-sized independent agency specializing in lifestyle and sports public relations headquartered in New York City with an office in Charlotte, NC. The agency creates and executes PR programs for some of the world’s leading consumer companies, and specific areas of expertise include: motor sports, consumer products, food and beverage, sports associations, leveraging corporate sponsorships, and event marketing.

Internship Overview:
Alan Taylor Communications is offering internship sessions in its Charlotte, NC office throughout 2007. This program will provide students with an opportunity to get real world experience within the public relations industry, as they work alongside Supervisors and Account Executives on various exciting projects. As a way to provide training to multi-task and develop their communication skills, interns will work on projects such as researching and writing press releases, updating news clippings, creating and updating media lists, assisting with event publicity, conducting media outreach, attending media events such as satellite media tours, press conferences and in-studio client appearances, and taking part in creative brainstorm sessions.

Internships can take place in six, eight or twelve week sessions, beginning on or around June 1, 2007 for the summer session. Additional internship positions are available starting in September 2007 for the fall session.

Qualifications:
Ideal candidates are sophomores, juniors or seniors working towards their degree in public relations, with some interest or background in sports. Communications, journalism and other marketing related majors will also be considered. Candidates will be required to interview with the Alan Taylor Communications internship director via phone and/or in person. A minimum of two full eight hour days is required each week throughout the course of the internship. Hours can be broken into afternoon segments.

Deadline:
Applications for summer internships must be received by March 31, 2007. Qualified candidates will be contacted for a follow up interview on a first come first serve basis.
