Holmes presents at national composition conference

Ashley J. Holmes, lecturer in the department of English, presented at the Conference on College Composition and Communication in New York on March 23. Holmes presented the paper “Exploring Voices and Identities: Multigenre Research in First Year Writing.” She joined three other instructors from NC State University to present on the panel: “Negotiating Student Voice in First Year Composition: Listening, Seeing, Speaking, and Writing.”

In her paper, Holmes argues for the value of non-traditional research assignments, such as the multigenre research paper, in first year composition courses. Holmes also describes the assignment and student learning in a gallery entry for Elon’s Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning.
