Summer journalism internship with City Guide

Every year, the Niche Publications Department of the Winston-Salem Journal hires a summer intern to write stories for our annual City Guide, a publication about Winston-Salem and its surrounding communities.

 

This internship is writing-intensive, so the ideal candidate would be a journalism, English or communications major. The candidate should be detail-oriented and have strong writing skills, knowledge of AP style and a commitment to accuracy.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  1. Developing story ideas and creating City Guide story budget
  2. Updating charts and lists
  3. Conducting interviews for feature stories
  4. Writing feature stories
  5. Making photo assignments for photographer when needed
  6. Proofreading pages from the various niche publications and syndicated products
