Raleigh News & Observer publishes Haskell’s op-ed piece on Gertrude Bell and Iraq

An op-ed piece by Rosemary Haskell, Professor of English, appeared in the March 20th, 2008, Raleigh News & Observer, p. A13.  The essay, entitled “Shaping the Nation We Fight In,”  is about the significance of the life and career of early-twentieth-century explorer,  politician and archaeologist Gertrude Bell for an understanding of  present American policy in Iraq.
