The Society of Physics Students held its 3rd annual Great Pumpkin Smash on Nov. 8 on the field by the driving range with pleasant weather that eluded organizers one week earlier when rain forced a postponement from the originally scheduled date.
The club received a total 175 food items and $50 in cash donations – more than the combined totals of the previous two events. Many in attendance brought entire bags of canned food, but the brother of Alpha Chi Rho fraternity brought in the largest single donation: 60 food items.
Food and donations benefited the Loaves & Fishes Christian Food Ministry in Burlington, N.C.
