Chairman of USAA to deliver business ethics lecture – Feb. 22

Retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. John Moellering visits Elon University on Feb. 22 as part of the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business “Ethics in Business” speaker series. The chairman of USAA, one of the nation’s leading insurance and financial services company, will describe ethical dilemmas he faced in the business world and how he addressed them.

Elon Law students awarded corporate counsel scholarships

Pamela Lawrence, '12, and Michael Sprague, '11, are among a select group of North Carolina law students chosen by the Research Triangle Area Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel to receive the chapter's first-annual scholarship awards. Criteria for the scholarships include academic performance and an interest in the in-house practice of law.

Elon’s Innocence Project presents research and hosts Dwayne Dail, exonerated after 18 years

On November 17, Elon Law students Daniel Harris, Leah Shellberg, Ashley Smith, Ben Synder, and Melissa Westmoreland presented research into potential wrongful convictions of individuals in North Carolina, before Christine Mumma, Executive Director of the N.C. Center on Actual Innocence. Elon's chapter of the Innocence Project also met Dwayne Allen Dail, exonerated after 18 years in prison for a rape he did not commit.

Elon Law alumnus Jameson Marks featured in Winston-Salem Journal

Jameson Marks, a member of the Class of 2010, was featured in the December 30 edition of the Winston-Salem Journal for the role he will play in the Forsyth County district attorney's office, serving as a prosecutor whose sole focus will be to handle DWI cases.

Elon Law student Andrea Davis, along with Nancy Short Ferguson, counsel with the Chicago Title Insurance Company and Lisa Stewart of the Stewart Law Firm, wrote an article for the Winter 2010 issue of the North Carolina State Bar Journal exploring methods established across several states to help attorneys protect client funds entrusted to them.
