Tony Crider, associate professor of physics, has authored a guest column for the June 7, 2011 issue of Astronomy Beat, a publication of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific (ASP).
The ASP invites scholars from the worlds of astronomy research and outreach to write for this twice-monthly column. Crider’s article, “Debating Pluto: Searching for the Classroom of the Future and Ending Up in the Past,” compares his early use of educational technology to subsequent use of the Reacting to the Past educational role-playing games. His research, initiated as part of the Elon University CATL Scholar program and currently supported by the National Science Foundation, involves the creation and assessment of a science games for use in college classrooms.
