School of Communications Student Advisory Board enters the conversation

At a university where communication is often at the heart of the learning process, the School of Communications Student Advisory Board is gearing up for a new school year and is ready to keep the conversation open and flowing.

The board of 12, which serves as a voice between the deans and the students, meets monthly to express their opinions about the school’s direction and what initiatives or changes they would like to see implemented.

According to Kenn Gaither, an associate dean of the School of Communications, the student advisory board is a way for the school’s administration to connect with the students and show them that they play an important role in the success of the school.

“Students are at the heart of what we do,” Gaither said. “And this is one way we ensure that there is a two-way street of communication open.”

The board is a mix of junior and senior communications students from all majors, genders and ethnicities. New members will be selected in the spring of 2012 and will serve for the following school year.
