The (Raleigh, N.C.) News & Observer spotlighted musician Chris Hendricks '07 in an online article on Saturday, Oct. 1.
While a junior at Elon, Hendricks, who has cerebral palsy, overcame his physical limitations and began to play the guitar. After graduation, he founded the Chris Hendricks Band, which has performed locally and throughout the East Coast.
Now, the article reports, he’s focusing his efforts on performing for special-needs elementary school students to inspire them to set and achieve high personal goals.
“My kids were absolutely silent watching him. It really was a message about tolerance,” said Cathy Williams, principal of East Garner Middle School, in the article. Hendricks recently performed a program at the school.
