Buffie Longmire-Avital delivers lecture at UNC-Greensboro

Buffie Longmire-Avital, assistant professor of psychology, presented her research findings on sexual partner selection among black American women at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro's Developmental Brown Bag series on Oct. 7.

Dr. Longmire-Avital’s talk, “Why Compromise (?): Assessing Sexually Risky Decisions for Heterosexual Black American Women” examined how knowledge of male partner’s STD history, the woman’s psychological well-being and her perceived gender roles were predictive of self-reported compromise in dating behavior. Funding for this research was through the Hultquist New Faculty Research award.
