Kevin O’Mara, professor of management, has been elected to serve on the board of directors for The Hawbridge School.
A North Carolina charter school, The Hawbridge School is located in a restored mill on the banks of the Haw River in Saxapahaw. The school offers an innovative, experiential and project-based curriculum that organizes the state standard course of study into month-long interdisciplinary units.
In addition, students receive an enriched curriculum in environmental studies and the arts with a focus on environmental stewardship. Fully utilizing its beautiful surroundings, the school is a leader in the outdoor classroom movement. Research projects in the outdoors are a daily occurrence.
Hawbridge enterprises teach business principles and provides knowledge and practical experiences through Hawbridge Designs, Hawbridge Gardens, and HOutdoors.
