Top leaders from Elon University and Alamance Regional Medical Center met Monday to view the new home of Elon’s physician assistant studies graduate program and to discuss how distinguished medical leaders in the Triad can serve as preceptors for future students.
Elon President Leo M. Lambert and Alamance Regional President & CEO John Currin were joined by Elizabeth Rogers, dean of the School of Health Sciences, and Mark Archambault, program chair and director of the PA program. The event celebrated the official clinical affiliation agreement finalized between the university’s PA program and Alamance Regional.
Also in attendance was Dr. Marshall Anderson ’89 of the Kernodle Clinic, an Elon alumnus and the first Triad doctor to partner with the PA program as a preceptor, and Diane Duffy, director of clinical education for the PA program.
Students in the PA program will rotate through six core clinical education experiences consisting of 6-week rotations in adult outpatient, emergency medicine, pediatrics, inpatient medicine, and surgery and a 3-week rotation in women’s health. In addition, they will have two 6-week and one 3-week rotations in electives of their choosing.

The Elon and ARMC leaders met inside the front entrance to the Francis Center on East Haggard Avenue. Newly renovated and opened in January, the Francis Center is home to the PA program as well as the Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
The Elon PA program started accepting applications on a rolling basis in September 2011 for the charter class enrolling January 2013.
