Elon students attend PRSSA national conference in Washington

The Elon students met with 1,000 PRSSA members during Fall Break and had opportunities to learn about public relations professionals and to network and make contacts for the future.

Elon students Emily Haley, Meghan Windle, Heather Harder (PRSSA's national president) and Paige Poupart.
Elon students Meghan Windle, Paige Poupart, and Emily Haley traveled to Washington D.C., accompanied by PRSSA’s faculty adviser, Assistant Professor Vanessa Bravo, to participate in PRSSA’s national conference.

The Public Relations Student Society of America is a national organization with more than 11,000 members and 344 chapters in the United States, Colombia and Peru.

Elon University has one local PRSSA chapter formed by about 80 members, one of which is currently PRSSA’s national president. Elon senior Heather Harder was Elon PRSSA’s president before becoming national vice-president of member services and, finally, this year, national president. Harder also attended the conference.

In D.C., Elon students Windle, Poupart and Haley were able to attend sessions led by recognized professionals in the industry, participated in career development trainings, and networked with peer public relations students and public relations practitioners from different fields. They also had the opportunity to attend a few sessions of the Public Relations Society of America’s International Conference.
