WRAL-TV sports anchor to speak at Elon – Sept. 16

WRAL-TV sports anchor Jeff Gravley P’16 will be speaking about journalism and the sports media industry at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, in The Pendulum’s office on the third floor of the Elon Town Center.

Gravley has served as the lead sports anchor at WRAL-TV since 2008 and has been with the Raleigh-based station for the majority of the last 30 years.

Gravley, a North Carolina State University graduate, interned at WRAL-TV in 1985 and was hired as a news photographer before moving back to the sports department. He became an anchor in 1995, serving as the lead anchor for the 10 p.m. sportscast until 2000, when he moved to Cleveland and spent three years with WEWS-TV.

Gravley has won seven regional Emmy Awards and been named the North Carolina Sportscaster of the Year twice.

His daughter, Megan, is a senior and plays volleyball for Elon.
