Elon University students filled the Moseley Center on Thursday to find new campus organizations to join this spring as they explore their personal and professional passions.

The Spring Organization Fair, hosted on Feb. 11, 2016, by the Office of Student Activities, featured dozens of clubs representing a variety of missions. More than 250 student groups are registered with the university, ranging from faith-based organizations to intramural sports programs to academic honor societies.

Club leaders and other members discussed their organizations Thursday evening with prospective students in search of a way to fill their schedule and have a good time.

“The Spring Organization Fair is great for us because we get to try a lot of new activities and we get to try new things,” said Elon freshman Alex Hale. “The spring fair gives people the opportunity to find clubs they wouldn’t normally know about, especially the niche clubs.”

Organization fairs are held on campus at the start of each semester to give students an opportunity to find classmates with like-minded interests. Involvement in student activities helps develop leadership skills, builds resumes for future career opportunities, fosters a stronger connection to Elon University, and gives students a way to make additional friends.

They also create ways to simply have fun.

“We host a lot of events that just let students come together for a good time,” said Elon sophomore Julia Sorensen, a member of the Interactive Software Association. “Our game nights have various games, so there’s something for everyone.”

Among the student organizations present Thursday were Speak Out For Syria, the WSOE student radio station, Ballroom Dancing, the Student Union Board, and many of Elon’s fraternities and sororities.
