Business and Culture in Japan summer course info session – March 8

Learn more about this new study abroad course, which explores how international trade, business and economic activity influence culture, politics, wealth and society across Japan and the world.

At this information session, Professors Tina Das and Mark Kurt will share details about the Summer 2016 BUS 370/ECO 370: Keizai in Kansai: Business and Culture in Japan course, including the itinerary, when to get flights, housing questions, course content, etc. Come to learn about this study abroad opportunity, have your questions answered, and enjoy pizza with fellow students!

Course information:

  • This is a new collaborative model anchored at our partner, Kansai Gaidai University
  • Develop understanding of the unique Japanese economic and business environment with a case study-based methodology and business visits with executives
  • Spend three weeks in Osaka, Kansai and Tokyo
  • Interact with Japanese students through substantial peer-to-peer interaction
  • Immerse yourself in Japanese culture through authentic living accommodations
  • Participate in weekend excursions to explore other areas of Japan
  • No language requirements

Program dates & cultural excursions (tentative):

  • June 8, 2016 – July 1, 2016
  • Business visits in Osaka and Tokyo
  • One-day excursion in Kyoto: Walk in the Steps of the Geisha
  • One-day excursion in Nara: Walk in the Steps of Shogun
  • Optional excursion at Mt. Fuji, Hiroshima and Kobe (not included in cost)

Course type:

  • 300-level advanced study in Elon Core Curriculum
  • Elective in Economics Major or Minor
  • Functional Area course in International Business Major
  • Elective in International Studies Major
  • Elective in Asian Studies concentration
  • Society in Elon Core Curriculum
