Jeffrey Carpenter presents at the Society for Information Technology in Teacher Education Conference 

The assistant professor of education and director of the Teaching Fellows program was involved in four different presentations at the SITE Annual Conference in Savannah, Georgia from March 22-25, 2016.

Jeffrey Carpenter, assistant professor of education, organized and presided for a panel titled, “How and Why to Use Social Media in Teacher Education,” which featured colleagues Daniel Krutka (Texas Woman’s University), Jayme Linton (Lenoir Rhyne University) and Geoff Price (Wake Forest University).

Carpenter gave a roundtable presentation titled, “Educators’ Professional Uses of Pinterest,” which discussed in progress research conducted with Elon undergraduates Ashley Abrams ’17 and Margaret Dunphy ’17.

Carpenter also led a session titled “A Diagnostic Tool to Help Leaders Develop TPACK Ready Teacher Preparation Programs.” In this session, the American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education’s standing committee on  Innovation & Technology, of which Carpenter is a member, presented a change process, formative assessment tool, and an example addressing how leadership can change school culture and practices to ensure that teacher candidates are ready to grow as TPACK proficient teachers.

Finally, Carpenter, Krutka and colleague,Torrey Trust (University of Massachusetts-Amherst), presented a paper titled “PK-12 Teachers’ Conceptualizations of Professional Learning Networks.”
