Carol Smith presents at the SHAPE America annual convention

Carol Smith, associate professor of health and human performance, presented at the SHAPE America annual convention, April 5-9, 2016.  

Smith co-presented a 4-hour pre-convention workshop titled “Educating the “whole” child: Adventure in Physical Education” with an emphasis on improving the intrapersonal and interpersonal relationship skills (IIRS) through adventure based learning. 

She also co-presented a 2-hour workshop on the “ABCs of Adventure Based Learning in Physical Education,” which focused on issues of anti-bullying and promoting 21st Century skills in learners through SHAPE America’s National Standards 4 & 5.

Smith was voted onto the Leadership Council for Southern District (consisting of 13 southern states from Virginia to Texas).
