Elon expands business dual-degree program

The four-year program now includes partnerships with schools in Spain and Italy.

Elon University’s Martha and Spencer Love School of Business has partnered with the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Piacenza, Italy, and the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas in Madrid, Spain, to offer dual-degree programs in international business.

The business dual-degree program gives students an opportunity to earn two degrees in four years—a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in international business from Elon and a Bachelor of Science degree in international management from a partner school.

Elon students participating in the program develop proficiency in another language and a foundation in international business during the first two years, which are spent on Elon’s campus. They deepen their international business experience over the next two years while they are abroad at a partner school. Elon hosts students from the partner school during their last two years of school.

“Elon students will now be able to pursue the business dual degree in the top four world languages taught at Elon—French, German, Italian and Spanish—giving them the opportunity to live, study and immediately apply their international business education in a global environment,” said Associate Professor Mark Kurt, director of the business dual-degree program.

Prior to going abroad, Elon students must meet the language proficiency standards designated and evaluated by the Department of World Languages and Cultures. This ensures the students meet European standards for writing and comprehension.

During the last two years of the program, students complete a full-time, semester-long, work experience and create a research portfolio.

The program was launched in 2010 with ESB Business School at Reutlingen University in Germany. In 2012, the program expanded to include NEOMA Business School in France.

Students are eligible to transfer financial aid packages, including Elon scholarships and grants, to their time at a partner school.
