Jacob Branchaud '13 is an associate producer for "MLB Tonight," a daily show on the MLB Network.
An Elon alumnus of the School of Communications has brought home a Sports Emmy Award for his work as an associate producer with MLB Network, a national broadcast network devoted to professional baseball.
Jacob Branchaud ’13 is a broadcast associate with “MLB Tonight,” an MLB Network show that this year was named “Outstanding Studio Show” in the daily category by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, which awards the Emmys. Branchaud said he is “overjoyed to receive this award and the recognition is very humbling,” noting that “none of this would have been possible without the support and knowledge that I gained during my time at Elon.”
Branchaud participated in internships with WHRO Public Media in Virginia and with Major League Baseball Productions before landing a position as a production assistant with MLB Productions, a position that allowed him to work on projects including World Series Film and “30 for 30” documentaries for ESPN. He’s worked for the past two years as a broadcast associate with MLB Network in New York City.
“Growing up, winning an Emmy was such a distant dream of mine and I never thought it would actually come true,” Branchaud said. “My professors in the School of Communications provided me with the tools to succeed including working in the best studios, highest-quality editing suites and providing me with mentorships throughout my four years at Elon. They really helped me get to where I am today.”
His job as a broadcast associate has him producing breakdowns for on-air talent, montages for showcase games and highlights from nightly games. “It’s my job to juggle many different assignments on a daily basis and have learned to be very flexible. Every day is different based on the trends and storylines from the night before.”
