KCSL: STAR Program seeking mentors for elementary students on Wednesdays

Pleasant Grove Elementary is seeking mentors for its STAR (Students Taking Achievement Responsibly) Program. The program focuses on using a healthy adult relationship to influence personal skill development in decision making, leadership and responsibility in school and in the community.

Volunteers can facilitate a single session 30-60 minutes on decision making, leadership, goal planning, careers or share a special talent. Homework help or organizational skills for 30 minutes is the first 30 minutes of the program. A volunteer can help with this. Volunteers can facilitate a 30- to 60-minute physical exercise activity-volleyball, basketball, cheerleading etc. There can be an art activity. Any skill/talent that you would like to share with 5th grade boys and girls (19 students).

Volunteers are needed on Wednesdays weekly. If interested, please contact Rhonda Robinson.

All Elon students must complete Title IX Training on Moodle before volunteering in the community. Your agency may also require a criminal background check. Please click here for more information: http://www.elon.edu/e-web/students/servicelearning/titleIX.xhtml
