On Thursday, Nov. 2, Elon students studying elementary and special education in the Principles of Learning and Teaching Math and Science classes of Assistant Professor Katie Baker and Lecturer Erin Hone attended the N.C. Council of Teachers of Mathematics state conference.

This was a wonderful opportunity because of the professional development and networking opportunities the conference presents for the pre-service teachers.  During the conference, students tweeted ideas and resources they learned about.

Hone stated, “As this event comes towards the end of the semester, our hope is the students see the prevalence of the instructional methods and strategies we have been teaching them this semester in math methods," Hone said. "Based on their excitement about those connections, I would say that was achieved!”
