'Waiting in the Midfield' Screening – April 17

7 p.m. | Global Commons 103

Assistant Professor Sana Haq will host a pre-release screener of her new documentary film, “Waiting in the Midfield,” on campus on Tuesday, April 17. The screening, set for 7 p.m. in Global Commons 103, is part of the Global Migration Film Series hosted by Elon’s Global Neighborhood.

Haq recently completed the film that features Omar Alhamwi, a Syrian refugee and former professional soccer player, as he makes a new life for himself in Greensboro. It is an in-depth look at a 24-year-old on his own, waiting for a chance to reconnect with his family and play professional soccer again.

Following the on-campus screening, Haq, Alhamwi and Sandy Marshall, assistant professor geography, will participate in a question-and-answer session.
