Business students advance skills through internships

Students completed summer internships with employers such as BlackRock, EY, Dell EMC, Goldman Sachs, Hasbro, Johnson & Johnson, Major League Baseball, L’Oreal, Marriott, National Geographic, Nordstrom, PwC and Wells Fargo.

More than 300 Martha and Spencer Love School of Business students grew their career skillsets and professional networks through internship work this summer.

The internships provided professional experience in areas such as audit, assurance, account management, analytics, business development, client services, compliance, events, finance, human resources, investment banking, marketing, merchandising, operations, real estate, sales, social media, risk management, tax, and wealth management.

“My internship allowed me to have an on-hands experience with project planning, budgeting and coordination,” said Fabio P. Brigagão, who was a project management intern at Volvo Group. “My favorite part was working in a cross-functional team containing co-workers from all over the world.”

Students worked in offices located across the United States as well as abroad. International locations included Argentina, Aruba, Bahamas, Canada, China, Germany, Israel, Italy, Nigeria, Turks and Caicos, and the United Kingdom.

“Not only did I work on real-time deals and relevant projects, but I also gained a large professional network,” said Emma Ott, who interned with Goldman Sachs as a credit risk analyst. “One of the biggest lessons I learned was to seek out mentors different from you because if not, you will just have an echo chamber.

“It was exciting to work for a company with such a strong culture of excellence and intellectual curiosity where interns were truly valued and treated as full-time analysts.”
