#ElonGrad: Celebrating the Class of 2020 this week

Elon is offering a variety of ways to learn about the graduating class and to show your Phoenix pride this week as members of the Class of 2020 prepare to receive their degrees on Friday, May 22.

Elon’s newest graduates will join the ranks of alumni this week as the university celebrates their accomplishments and confers their degrees during an online ceremony at noon on Friday, May 22.

Elon’s 130th Undergraduate Commencement activities have been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic until these special students can gather together safely on campus with their friends, families and the Elon community to celebrate their graduation. Friday’s conferral ceremony is not meant to simulate or rival in-person Commencement activities, but provides an opportunity to recognize what these students have achieved.

Friday’s ceremony will be available at www.elon.edu/live and on a special Conferral Ceremony site that includes a program for the ceremony and a searchable list of members of the Class of 2020 including their academic honors and awards.

Leading up to Friday’s special ceremony, Elon seniors and their supporters can find a variety of resources online to help them celebrate their time at Elon.

An #ElonGrad Digital Swag page includes Class of 2020-themed graphics that can be used as profile pics, cover images and shared on social media. Additionally, with more and more people communicating via videoconferencing now, you can select from a range of backgrounds to use featuring images of iconic locations around campus, the Elon Phoenix and the Elon logo.

Family members and friends of members of the Class of 2020 can pick from four designs that can be downloaded and taken to a local printer to produce a yard sign to show off their pride in their new graduate.

Members of the Class of 2020 and their friends and family are encouraged to use the hashtag #ElonGrad this week and during the ceremony on Friday to share pictures of themselves or their Elon memories on social media. A special webpage on the main Commencement site and the Conferral Ceremony site will display a selection of those posts throughout the week and beyond so we can celebrate this special occasion together.
