Oscar Miranda awarded Center for First-Generation Student Success Grant

The grant will be used to raise awareness and celebrate the accomplishments of first-generation college students, faculty and staff.

Oscar Miranda, assistant director for access and student support received a $500 First-Generation College Celebration Grant Opportunity from the Council for Opportunity in Education (COE), the Center for First-Generation Student Success, and The Suder Foundation.

The funds are intended to raise awareness and celebrate the accomplishments of first-generation college students, faculty, and staff. This award is meant to provide support for first-generation college celebrations across the country. At Elon, the grant funds were used for t-shirts, buttons and pens to promote awareness of first-generation college identity.
