The Elon University Department of Performing Arts is presenting its fall musical — “42nd Street” — on Oct. 29-31 and Nov. 4-6.

This dance-heavy 1980 Tony Award-winner for Best Musical is based on the novel by Bradford Ropes and the 1933 Academy Award-winning musical film.

The Department of Performing Arts is presenting “42nd Street” as its Fall 2021 musical.

Peggy Sawyer arrives in New York City from Allenstown, Pennsylvania, with hopes of becoming a Broadway star. Facing adversity from all directions, the young and talented performer learns about show business and discovers which relationships are most important in life.

Elon’s deconstructed version will investigate gender norms and other contemporary issues. The production is directed by Alexandra Joye Warren and Chari Arespacochaga with choreography by Deb Leamy and musical direction by Chris Rayis.

Admission: $15 or Elon ID. Tickets are now available by visiting elon.universitytickets.com.
