Elon students recognized in statewide vocal competition

Seven music theatre majors participated in the North Carolina Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing Music Theatre Vocal competition held virtually in November.

Seven Elon University music theatre majors participated in the North Carolina Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing music theatre vocal competition that was held virtually in November.

All of the students who participated in the competition won or placed in their respective categories receiving top scores qualifying them to advance to the Mid-Atlantic regional level, which consists of North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC. The regional round will be held in March 2022.

Sitare Sadeghi ’25 and Tara Venkataraman ’25 won first and second place, respectively, in the First-year College Women Music Theatre category.

Mary Kate McDonald ’24 won second and Camille Fundingsland ’24 placed third in the Sophomore College Women Music Theatre category.

Micah Day won first place in the Sophomore College Male Music Theatre category. Abby Harnum won first place in the Junior Women College Music Theatre category and Audrey Trullinger advanced to regionals among Fourth/Fifth-year women.

Sadeghi, Day and Harnum all performed at the prestigious Honors Recital.
