Important campus and services updates during ‘fake break’

Winter Term Exams for undergraduate students and some graduate programs will occur on Friday, Jan. 24.

The gap in time between the end of Winter Term on Monday, Jan. 27, through Wednesday, Jan. 29, is sometimes colloquially referred to as “fake break,” and several campus services will have adjusted hours during this time.

As a reminder, there are several 24/7 services available throughout this time.

  • Campus Safety & Police can be reached at 336-278-5555. They can also assist with connections to the Student Life on-call administrators.
  • On-call crisis counselors are available at 336-278-2222.
  • SAFEline is available at 336-278-3333 for confidential support with identity-based bias, sexual violence, or interpersonal violence – they can also be a confidential resource to access on-call violence responders.

Below are hours of student services operations during the break.

Residence Halls and University Apartments

  • Residence halls do not close during “fake break,” and neighborhood offices remain open during regular weekday business hours, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Please use your respective neighborhood on-call phone number for any needs after-hours.
  • Move-in and check-in for new transfer and first-year students is Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the neighborhood area offices.

Parking

  • If you are leaving for the break and plan on leaving your vehicle on campus, you may leave it in your permitted lot or you may park it in the Innovation lot, Colonnades lot, or South Campus.
  • Make sure your vehicle is locked and you take any valuables with you.

Belk Library

  • Belk Library will maintain Winter Term hours through the break.
  • The library closes at 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31.
  • Spring semester hours will begin when the library opens at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1.
  • Visit the Belk Library website for information about library hours for non-Phoenix card holders.

Campus Transportation

  • On Friday, Jan. 24, the Elon Express will stop service at 5 p.m.
  • All routes will resume their normal schedule beginning Thursday, Jan. 30.
  • The Elon Express schedules and routes are available online.

Campus Recreation

  • Campus Recreation facilities will have adjusted hours from Thursday, Jan. 23, through Wednesday, Jan. 29.
  • The PARC fitness center will remain open from 4 a.m. to Midnight daily.
  • Visit the Campus Recreation website and check the Hours of Operation for all dates and times we will be open.

Counseling Services

  • Counseling Services will maintain regular hours, with the exception of Tuesday, Jan. 28, when the office will be closed for clinical appointments.
  • Appointments are available Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • The on-call Crisis Counselor remains available 24/7 by calling 336-278-2222. Call 9-1-1 for any psychological emergency that is life-threatening or involves imminent danger to self or others.
  • Visit the Counseling Services website for information about hours and appointment times, links to online resources and information about emergency and crisis resources.

Campus Bookstore (Barnes & Noble at Elon University)

  • The Campus Bookstore will operate under the following hours:
    • Monday-Friday: 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.
    • Saturday: 9 a.m.- 2 p.m.

Dining Services

  • The last day for fall meal plans is Saturday, Jan. 25, and spring meal plans take effect Wednesday, Jan. 29.
  • Elon Dining is proud to partner with the university to provide meals to students who are remaining on campus over fake break. Please bring your Phoenix Card to swipe in.
  • Elon Dining has special hours for exam day and fake break. Daily menus and hours for on-campus dining locations are always available on the Elon Dining menu and hours site.

Mail Services

  • Normal Hours: Monday-Friday: 8:30 a.m.- 5 p.m.; Saturday: 11 a.m.- 2 p.m.

Moseley Center

  • Moseley Center will have abbreviated hours beginning Friday, Jan. 24.
    • Friday, Jan. 24: 7 a.m.-10 p.m.
    • Saturday, Jan. 25: 9 a.m.-10 p.m.
    • Sunday, Jan. 26: 7 a.m.-10 p.m.
    • Monday, Jan. 27: 7 a.m.-10 p.m.
    • Tuesday, Jan. 28: 7 a.m.-10 p.m.
    • Wednesday, Jan. 29: 7 a.m.-10 p.m.

Student Health Services
