Elon University Los Angeles students spoke with alum Frankie Capisano '16, an award winning writer and producer, about launching a post-graduating professional career.
As the summer semester winds down at Elon University Los Angeles, the focus was on landing a job after graduation at this week’s professional development event for students, which featured a conversation with Elon LA-based alumni Frankie Campisano ‘16. Campisano is an award-winning writer and producer, and former entertainment industry corporate recruiter.

In a discussion moderated by Brad Lemack, director of Elon University Los Angeles, Campisano stressed the importance of creating a strategic approach to launching a post-graduation professional career.
“Seek to build relationships, not just look for a job,” Campisano advised students. They underscored that you never know where or when an opportunity will present itself. Campisano added that, often, opportunity comes from proactive work you should always be doing to connect with people who work in the part of the industry where you want to begin and build your career.
Campisano also talked about the importance of connecting with the Elon alumni community as a component of strategic outreach. They often meet with recent Elon graduates for informational interviews about career planning and job seeking.

This summer’s Los Angeles cohort of students gathered at Elon LA’s home base at The Preserve, in Hollywood, for the last of a series of programming this summer that, in addition to their academic classes and industry experiential learning, included a career “wisdom” advice panel featuring other Elon LA-based alumni and volunteering at the Hollywood Food Coalition, as a part of the Elon University Los Angeles commitment to community service.
Since 2008, Elon students have had the opportunity to participate for a semester in Elon University’s fully immersive Los Angeles experience. Information and application details for the spring and summer 2026 LA experience are available from Study USA and National Campus Programs. Applications for spring 2026 are being accepted until Sept. 15, 2025.
