Five Elon CIS and CS seniors complete 10 week summer internship at Credit Suisse

During the past summer, Credit Suisse offered approximately thirty paid summer internship positions for rising senior undergraduates at their Research Triangle Park location. These are highly regarded internships with many applicants from across North Carolina. The Elon Computing Sciences department was proud to have five students receive and complete the summer internship. The five students were: Joel Blondy, Dan Cresse, Catherine FitzGerald, John Minshall and Andrew Sutherland.

90% of Elon CS 2010 Grads accept IT jobs or graduate school

The Computing Sciences Department had ten majors graduate in 2010. The graduates were in high demand and at graduation seven had accepted full time IT employment and two had accepted graduate school. The seven students that went into the IT workplace accepted jobs at IBM, Credit Suisse and UNC Greensboro. The two students who went to graduate school for an advanced CS degree went to Georgia Tech and Wake Forest.

Powell presents at ACMSE 2010

On, April 17, 2010, Dave Powell presented a paper co-authored with Joel Hollingsworth at the annual ACM Southeast Conference at the University of Mississippi. The title of the paper was "Teaching Web Programming Using the Google Cloud". This conference is the oldest continually running conference of the Association of Computing Machinery.

Megan Conklin awarded $100,000 NSF grant
